English Setter Club
Education Day dawned bright and a bit hazy in some areas, complete with showers and then some in many areas; however, by the time most folks arrived with their “best buddies” the rain and haze had been replaced with sun and a breeze.
Events held in the morning were centered primarily on the particulars of hunt and field work, complete with instructions, demonstrations, and practice sessions. Presenters were Mike Blanchard, Brian Rolison, Bob Rynkiewicz, Ellen Cavalla, and Jeff Drogin.
This year the EGSPC added a new feature to Education Day – Youth Gun Safety Program – complete with instruction and practice sessions with a variety of shot-guns. Presenters were Bill Mengert and Bob Rynkiewicz.
Another club member, Howard Wright, provided instruction on Clicker Training for several interested attendees.
Robyn Klenk, a professional photographer, was also on hand taking photos (at the owners request) of the dogs and their handlers in action.
Unfortunately this year we were unable to provide obedience instruction or Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. Hope all is well Dottie!!
After lunch some of the folks participated in the session on confirmation do’s and don’ts conducted by Florence Duggan. While a general club meeting was deferred to a later date to be announced, brief hunt test and walking field trial committee meetings were held.
The Eastern German Shorthair Pointer Club wishes to thank the English Setter Club for the availability and use of their grounds for our event. And, special thanks is extended to all those members who provided delicious side dishes and desserts that most definitely added to the subs provided by our club.
All in all a good time was had by those in attendance with many remaining to practice what they and their dogs had learned during the event.
See you all next year!!!!
